If the symptoms persist, it may be necessary to consult with a veterinarian or experienced aquarium hobbyist for further assistance. **

The freshwater pearl mussel does not absolutely need the bitterling to survive, but the presence of the bitterling is beneficial for its reproduction. The bitterling uses the mussel as a host for its eggs, and in return, the bitterling helps to disperse the mussel's larvae. While the relationship is mutually beneficial, the freshwater pearl mussel can survive without the bitterling, but its population may be negatively impacted. Therefore, conservation efforts often focus on protecting both species and their habitat to ensure their continued survival. **

In a 60-liter aquarium, it is recommended to keep a maximum of 10-15 shrimp, depending on the specific species and their size. It is important to consider the bioload of the other fish in the tank, such as otos, armored catfish, and bitterling barbs, as they will also contribute to the overall waste production and oxygen consumption in the tank. Overstocking the aquarium can lead to poor water quality and stress for the inhabitants, so it's important to carefully consider the stocking levels and compatibility of the different species. **
